Lesmahagow Food Vessels 2500-1500 BCE

Three Lesmahagow Knocken Hill  food vessels (bowls) circa 2500-1500 BCE (photographed in Glasgow Kelvingrove Museum 18th July 2014) These three bowls came from a series of 16 cist burials. CIST – from around 4,500 years ago people were buried in individual graves . Mourners in the Bronze Age often placed items like these bowls in the grave beside the body.
