CAVLP Crossford Road Show

The Lanark and District Archaeological Society was invited to participate in a road show on Saturday 2nd March with CAVLP.

The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership (CAVLP) is a new Heritage Lottery funded project which aims to conserve, enhance and celebrate the unique landscape and cultural heritage of the Clyde and Avon Valleys.

The scenic beauty of area has been recognized and appreciated for centuries.

It is a designated Area of Great Landscape Value where ancient woodlands, orchards, farmland, geological features, historic settlements and country estates mingle together to create a distinctive landscape that is unique in Scotland.

The Landscape Partnership is comprised of 10 public bodies and charitable organisations, working with communities and landowners to identify and develop projects which conserve the natural and built heritage of the area, strengthen the connection between people and the landscape and provide a range of volunteering and learning opportunities in traditional heritage skills and land management practices.

A large scale map of the Clyde and Avon Valleys was updated by local residents to outline their ideas for improving walkways, cycle tracks and other possibilities
